DFS Interpreting has expert-level understanding and practice in each of the specialties and disciplines we service. DFS Interpreting founder David Shafer is one of the most knowledgeable and experienced interpreters in California.
1995
David Shafer, founder of DFS Interpreting, moved to the U.S. from Spain. (He continues to travel back to maintain a fluency of the Spanish language in real form). David has a unique background which has rendered him an expert when it comes to accuracy and expertise in this field.
2002
DFS Interpreting was formed.
2003
David was the youngest person in the State of California to become a Certified Medical Interpreter, and has developed an onboarding program and training curriculum which incorporates classroom teaching, field training, and testing for its interpreters.
2008
DFS moves to Redding after faithfully being led by God to the Northern California town of Redding. Having no other business regionally that could offer certified court or medical interpreters, David began vetting new certified interpreters and forged ahead in an industry that is dominated by freelance workers that are notorious for being unreliable.
2009
Business began to grow and enabled David to hire his brother, Jon, to provide another professionally trained and certified full-time interpreter. Jon’s experience in the public education sector made him acculturate seamlessly. Being a high-school Spanish teacher gifted Jon with a unique ability in articulation, teaching, and expertise.
2012
David passed the State Examination for Certified Court Interpreter and is now the only person with this license within a roughly 75 mile radius of Redding, California
2015
DFS Interpreting received the award for Best Interpreting in the North State region!
2021
DFS Interpreting receives the award for Best Interpreting and Translating company in Redding, 7 years consecutively.
2023
After the pandemic, DFS Interpreting incorporates telephonic and videoconference interpreting, payable per minute, to assist its clients who prefer to work remotely as well as helping cut the cost of lengthy travel within rural areas.
