VIDEO/REMOTE INTERPRETATION
Ever since the WCAB and Superior Court shut its doors temporarily during the pandemic, remote hearings and conferences have become quite popular. Some parties still choose to do depositions on Zoom. Some courts even offer remote Court trials with witness testimony. Whatever the situation, DFS Interpreting and its team of certified court and administrative hearing interpreters are familiar with the different platforms and features available for remote appearances and are ready to assist you and your clients.
How to Schedule:
Scheduling a video/remote session in advance is required. DFS Interpreting is happy to use any video platform of your choosing. Simply let us know your platform of choice and we will be happy to download it onto the interpreter’s computer. Please call us at (530) 605-1999 or email us at Scheduling@DFSInterpreting.com to schedule in advance. Pre-scheduled remote conferences will require a time estimate. Once a block of time is scheduled, DFS Interpreting will prepare an invoice for the selected amount of time being requested. Please make note of this to ensure your client is available before scheduling, as you will be billed for the scheduled time.
Late Cancellation Policy:
Interpreting time canceled within 1 business day will be billed and paid by customer at the pre-scheduled amount of time originally requested. Pre-scheduled time is not transferrable. If re-scheduling, a new and separate fee is required. The cancellation policy for trials is 14 days or 1 business day before the Trial Readiness Conference; whichever is greater. Since many parties settle their issues before the trial or postpone the trial dates at the TRC, please keep this in mind before scheduling your interpreter.
Payment Terms:
After the date of service or portion of time reserved, the party responsible for paying the invoice will receive an invoice from Quickbooks with options on how to pay and when payment is due. There is an option for credit card payments although most parties still choose to send a check. We do not accept “virtual” credit cards. If you would like to to pay with a credit card, please follow the instructions on the invoice.
Disclaimer: For remote platforms other than Zoom, you will be required to arrange the meeting and send our interpreter the link. For CourtCall, we will need a Notice of Hearing with the link and available phone number for the WCJ. Although fees may be arranged and agreed upon when services are requested, nothing in this section is intended to replace the fees billed for Workers’ Compensation matters pursuant to Section 9795.3 of the California Code of Regulations. Those services will still be billed to the insurance carriers at the statutory minimum rates established which is currently “market rate”. DFS Interpreting cannot guarantee a certified court interpreter will be available for any last-minute requests however, we will try our best to accommodate your needs.
